K'reyel

K'reyel

Syntara walked alone back to her weyr after dinner. There had been plenty of enjoyable company, but none of them really suited her. She felt like just going back to her weyr and sleeping for the next turn.
She hadn't been truly alone in a long while and now that she was, she planned on embracing it wholly. That was, until a certain bronzerider came around a corner.

"Evening, K'reyel." Syntara used a friendly tone, but there was another layer to it, something a little less then friendly. She knew he was weyrmated, but why not try anyway? A little flirting never did anyone any harm...

"Greenrider," he said pleasantly enough, though his mind lay elsewhere, a trip he was planning on taking Mai on, maybe over to Dolphin Cove to see K'deren and Deralie. She'd like that.

Syntara was a little dissatisfied at his rather impersonal greeting. "MY respects to Erdenth." They weren't very far apart now.

"And mine to Faylith."

"Honestly, bronzerider, where is your sense for the art of conversation?" Syntara paused in front of him, looking into his eyes coyly.

"That would depend on who was making the conversation, and what they wanted to talk about." He didn't want to be too rude, bu he really was on his way elsewhere, and not in the mood for conversation. "Do you know of an interesting subject?"

"I can think of one..." She titled her head and gave him a very obvious sort of look. "But you are still happily weyrmated, are you not?"

"And you know that, or you'd not have asked." But then a thought struck him, he'd overheard W'saan talking about how he could do with the attentions of a good woman. He wasn't exactly Syntara's type, but if it got her off his back.

Syntara shrugged a shoulder. "Can't blame a girl for trying..."

"And we must all try hard at something," he gave her a faint smile.
"What if I were to think of something that needed attention, your attention?"

"Needed my attention?" Syntara was a little perplexed. Just what did he mean by that?

"Someone really," he explained a little. "Walk with me a little."

Now she was suspicious. Was K'reyel trying to pawn her off on some other man? He _couldn't_ be! She gave him the benefit of the doubt, remained silent, and walked with him as he'd asked.

"Do you know W'saan?" he said casually. "I believe he was planning a party for the next rest day, I think he might need a little help with the planning."

Syntara stopped walked. "Am I understanding want you're implying correctly, K'reyel?" Her tone was quite guarded "I'm implying nothing, only that W'saan mught need some help, after all nobody wants to go to a boring party."

The greenrider folded her arms menacingly. "Well how sweet of you to think of me." Her tone was entirely sarcastic. "But as much as I _love_
ti be traded by men like I was a mark at a gather, I think I'll pass."

"Syntara, look, I didn't mean it like that. It's just I'm weyrmated and happy."

"So you're just going to pass me off to some other guy who'd be willing to bed me!?" Syntara glared at him harshly. "I know my reputation around this weyr, but just because I act more like a bronzerider than a greenrider doesn't mean that you are allowed to treat me like this!"

Whatever he said he knew he would be in the wrong. "I didn't mean anything of the sort."

"No, you just meant me to liven up the party." She narrowed her eyes at him, turned the opposite direction, and headed off seething.
