}:I don't think that's right.:{ Nhaliviath said, peering at the way Hers and others were marching, even if the green herself wasn't actually sure. }:It looks so very boring.:{

}: It seems…inefficient, :{ Inarayth remarked as she watched. }: Wouldn’t it make more sense for them to be in the air doing this? They’re only moving in two…two…ways? :{ She didn’t know how else to describe it. They were only moving left or right, forward or back, not up and down like they would while flying.

Nhaliviath rustled her wings, contemplating, and then snorted. }:Mine should be paying attention to _me_.:{ she said. }:He is already so very busy.:{

}: Mine is hiding something from me, :{ Inarayth said. }: Something he’s afraid of. But every time I try to pull it out of him, he evades my questions. Or it’s nap time. Or I forget. :{ Her tone indicated that she hated the last reason why. She was never going to figure out what was bothering him if she kept forgetting!

}:Mine does not enjoy feeding me.:{ Nhaliviath confided, with the air of one revealing a great secret. }:The meat makes his stomach feel strange, even when I tell him how delicious it is.:{

Her tail twitched. }:Perhaps there is a clue to Yours’ secret that we can investigate?:{ Nhaliviath offered.

}: It happened in the _past_. Very long ago. He does not want Eometh’s rider to know about it either, :{ Inarayth answered in a tone that indicated she was thinking deeply. }: Oh! Maybe we can ask Eometh if he knows! :{

}:Oh that is a very good idea.:{ Nhaliviath said, approval clear. }:And then we will find someone to ask why Mine does not like to make my food.:{

Feeling like the older dragon would definitely know the answer to both things, Inarayth drew herself up and said, }: Eometh! Nhaliviath and I have questions for you. :{ Her tone indicated that she wasn’t going to wait to ask said questions or going to inquire of the older dragon if now was a good time.

Eometh was busy though. He was helping his rider keep another dragon calm. }: In a moment, little one, :{ he said, his mindvoice full of concentration but not on her.

Inarayth huffed. }: A moment? We need answers now! :{

}:We want _answers_!:{ Nhaliviath agreed, with a stamp of one foot. }:Or we will go looking for them. Perhaps we ought to do that anyway, Inarayth!:{

}: Yes, :{ Inarayth agreed instantly. If the elder dragon wasn’t going to help, they would find someone who was! Fluffing her wings impatiently, she motioned for her sister to follow as she began walking in…some direction. }: There’s adult dragons over there! Let’s ask one of them. :{

Nhaliviath bounded after her. }:Wait for me!:{ she told her sister, then veered toward a blue. }:You there! I am Nhaliviath and this is Inarayth, and we have questions!:{

A vibrant blue ocean dragon lowered his head to inspect the approaching hatchlings. }: Hello! :{ Jenith greeted warmly. }: What questions do you have? :{

Nhaliviath snorted at him, spread her pale wings. Yes. Give her the attention.

}:Why does Mine feel not-good when he is only making my food and watching me eat?:{ she appealed. }:Inarayth and I seek answers. She has a question too.:{

Jenith had to think about this one. Hadn’t his own rider been squeamish to start? Yes, because S’yen wasn’t a fan of dealing with ichor even now as a dragonhealer but he did it. }: It feels gross to them, :{ he explained happily. }: It’s a texture-smell thing. :{

Nhaliviath thought about that, and then flicked her tail. }:Then I will continue asking him for food.:{ she decided. }:Mine is stronger than he says. He must simply accept it.:{

She paused, then added, }:Inarayth says that her rider has a Secret. We must find out what it is.:{

Jenith’s eyes whirled with excitement. }: A mystery to be discovered? :{

Inarayth tilted her chin up. }: Yes. He is very afraid about something and he keeps trying to hide it from me. It’s not flying together because I know he looks forward to that. But I think something happened _before_, long ago, and he won’t tell me what. :{

The lithe blue dragon seemed to consider this. }: My own rider has a memory from before that he doesn’t like to think about either. But that’s the past. :{

}: Yes, I know it’s in the past. But he won’t talk about it! :{

Jenith’s head canted to the side. }: Well, from what I’ve learned, the past can hurt and our riders either run from it or learn from it. :{

}: That’s it! He’s running from it! :{ Inarayth exclaimed. She bared her teeth. }: Now how do I make him _not_ run from it? :{

}: I don’t know. :{

Inarayth made a frustrated sound. }: Do these adult dragons know _anything_?! :{ she complained to Nhaliviath.

}:That doesn't help at _all_!!!:{ Nhaliviath agreed, her tail lashing once in her own annoyance. }:Come, Inarayth, we must keep searching for answers. Perhaps someone else will know.:{

The two young greens stalked through the dragons they could see until they spotted another dragon that looked promising. }: She’s a green dragon like us! :{ Inarayth pointed out, practically bounding up to the deep forest green adult. }: Hello! I’m Inarayth and this is Nhaliviath and we have _questions_. :{

Liranth blinked inquisitively. }: About? :{

}: Our riders! Well, mine anyway. He’s _hiding_ something. Something he doesn’t want to think about. Something long ago. And he won’t tell me and I want to know! :{

Versed in the ways of children thanks to her rider’s own two, Liranth chuckled. }: Sometimes our riders like to keep something to themselves. We should respect that. They’ll tell us when they’re ready. :{

Inarayth let out a dramatic groan and sank to her haunches. }: This is ridiculous! :{ she told Nhaliviath. }: Useless! :{

}:And what of my rider?!:{ Nhaliviath demanded of Liranth, in great offense. }:He thinks cutting my food makes his own stomach hurt, and he insists that he is fine when he is not!:{

She stamped her own feet, and then the pale green plopped herself down right next to her clutch-sister. }:We will not leave here until we are explained to.:{ she told Inarayth.

That question Liranth had an answer to. }: Queasiness. Sometimes our riders find something that we do -- like eating raw meat -- gross and it turns their stomach. But they don’t want to upset us so they tell us everything is fine. :{

Nhaliviath snorted her opinion of _that_. }:Foolish.:{ she decided. }:Mine is excellent, He should not fuss over a little bit of food.:{

}: Have you tried something called bread? Or cheese? :{ Liranth inquired patiently.

}:Oh, mine _loves_ cheese!:{ Nhaliviath said, excitedly. }:I will tell him to bring me some!:{

}: Yes, but have _you_ tried it? :{ Liranth asked.

}:I do not remember.:{ Nhaliviath said cheerily. }:So I have told Mine to bring me some. Have _you_ had cheese?:{

}: I have, :{ Liranth answered, }: and I do not like it. It tastes funny. And the texture is odd. So, thinking about that, if I don’t like cheese, it makes sense that there are things that my rider wouldn’t like that I do. :{ She waited to see if that made sense to the little dragon.

Nhaliviath tried to understand that, even as her muzzle wrinkled slightly at the thought. }:Perhaps I should try this cheese then.:{ she decided. }:If it tastes wrong or funny, perhaps that means Mine should stop eating it. Maybe that is why he doesn’t feel well when it’s time for me to eat.:{

Liranth internally sighed with the patience of an adult who could tell when something wouldn’t make sense to a child too small to understand before saying, }: You should try it and see what you think. :{ Perhaps experience would be a better teacher. }: Now, you two should venture back to your wallows. I’m certain your riders will be looking for you soon. :{

}: I still don’t have any answers! :{ Inarayth protested even as she felt E’rian trying to figure out where she was. Shard it! She was never going to find out what he was hiding!

}:Hurry, Inarayth, there is still time to go looking!:{ Nhaliviath urged. }: ...This way, perhaps!:{

She could sense her rider looking for her as well.

}: Quickly! :{ Inarayth agreed before any of the adult dragons could stop them.
