DCW: Keep Them Safe (Part 2/2)

Writers: Roxanne
Date Posted: 26th May 2007

Characters: Jyramikah
Description: Jyramikah helps her family take shelter in her weyr.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 3, day 19 of Turn 4

"Thank you so much for getting things together." Jyramikah said grinning at her nephew. He was about the same age as Vikajyr and just as active.

"It's part of my job as a fostermother and as a sister to a goldrider." she replied watching as the two young boys clashed their stuffed dragons against one another.

"Jyrakon?" Jyramikah called as she glanced around for the older children. They should have only needed to grab their bags and come back. Knowing the girls, one of them had lost their treasured dolly and weren't willing to leave her.

"We're coming mama!" he called back as he and his cousin herded the three younger children out of the bedroom. They had been looking for a lost toy that his cousin just had to have that had been hidden by a bedfur. He couldn't wait until he was old enough to move to the candidate barracks and not have to be around little children all the time.

Nokera and Kerobi were clutching their dolls tightly as the carried a knapsak in the other that contained clothing. They were too young to really understand what was going on, but they were reassured by the presence of their mother and the promise of being able to play with Ikoladith.

"It's only for a little while, dears. Your aunt Akrona will be with you the entire time and mama will be there as much as possible." she explained as they walked along the corridors leading to her weyr.

"That's right and we'll have a lot of fun. Your mama and Ikoladith won't let anything happen to you." Akrona added as she often told the children when they were frightened of something. She wanted them to be as proud as she was of their goldrider mother.

}:The water's rising! You should go check with the headwoman.:{ Ikoladith informed her as they reached the door to their weyr.

**Allright. I'll head that way. Akrona and the children are here and will wait out the storm with you. How is the hatching ground faring?**

}:They are going to move the eggs as fast as possible to Dragonsfall.:{ Ikoladith replied after talking to one of the bronzes that was going to meet his rider in the hatching grounds.

**There's enough bronzes that they should be able to do it.** Jyramikah said glad that it was not her having to make such a hard decision, but knowing she would have done the same. She could only imagine the difficulty in keeping her gold calm while others moved her eggs away from her. She did not envy the Weyrwoman right now at all.

"I've got to go, but there is some juice and meatrolls incase they get hungry."Jyramikah told her sister as she handed Vikajyr over to her niece. She hugged her children and told them to be good before heading back to her office to see about the state of the lower caverns.
