Description: U'das and K'sedel spend a moment talking, when he brings in his report to the weyrleader.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 7, day 1 of Turn 4
U'das was in good mood when came to the wingleader's office to drop off his wing report of the past month.
"Thank you," said the Weyrleader as he took it. "And congratulations. Your niece impressed well."
"Thank's, so she did", U'das grinned proudly.
"You must be proud of her and that little green of hers."
"And rightly so, she'll make a fine wingrider," U'das grinned.
"Were the rest of your family able to see it?" On a day like that it mattered to have your friends and family see you, to be able to show off your new dragon for the first time.
"Some of them. I picked up my brother-in-law personally and Uetia's brother from Far Island Weyr came too," U'das told him.
"That's good. Hasn't she achieved Journey rank in her craft as well?"
"That she did, she's a journeywoman dolphineer as well. No dolphin-partner, fortunately for us. That would had prevented her from Impressing."
"She has a partner of another sort now," and while he knew nothing about the chosen craft of the girl, the fact that she had walked the tables said a lot. Meant she was used to working hard to achieve her goals.
"Not what she expected, but she is happy with Sirjath," U'das said.
"I've yet to meet a weyrling that wasn't happy with their new dragon. It tends to go with Impression." And for the first few days there was a glow about them all, as they realised that they really were dragonriders, and the marvellous creature by their sides would be with them for the rest of their lives.
"Me neither," U'das grinned. "Dazed and happy, that's what I would call them."
"Until the real work sets in."
"Well, Uetia is a levelheaded girl, she'll do fine with the reality of dragonrider's life."
"Perhaps one day we'll see her in either of our wings then."
"No doupt," U'das snorted.
"Indeed." K'sedel changed the subject. "Anything in here I need to worry about?" he asked pointing to the report U'das had brought.
"Getting a replacement for one pregnant greenrider," U'das said.
"I'd speak to Tsaera, but Ciara might be ready to go back to a regular wing now."
U'das nodded. "She should fit in well, if she's availabe now," he said.
"In know she wants to go back, but it's up to Tsaera if she can release her."
U'das nodded again. "Just wait and see, huh?"
"Pretty much. But if you ask nicely..."
"I always ask nicely," U'das said and tried to look innocent.
"So Tsaera tells me."
U'das chuckled. He also wondered what exactly she's been telling?
"Anything else, or can I read it later?"
"Nothing particular, so you can read it later," U'das replied.
"I'll do that."
